DVD Decrypter was a freeware computer program developed by LIGHTNING UK! has been developed. It allows to save the contents of a DVD movie to the hard disk.
History
The first version of DVD Decrypter was released in November 2000. As of September 2, published in 2001, newly created version 3.0, the program has several times completely revised.
Prohibition of the program
Since the program is contrary with the possibility to bypass several DVD encryption techniques against a law adopted in October 2003 Copyright Act, LIGHTNING UK was! forced in June 2005 to discontinue the development immediately. As a result, the copy protection manufacturer Macrovision Corporation acquired all rights to the software and let it remove from most mirrors.
Since then develops LIGHTNING UK! the freeware ImgBurn which, although considered "in relation to the internal function " of the DVD decrypters as its unofficial successor, but eg contains no copy protection circumvention mechanisms more.
