Dwijendralal Ray

Dwijendralal Ray ( Bengali: দ্বিজেন্দ্রলাল রায় Dbijendralāl Ray; * July 16, 1864 in Krishnanagar, Bengal, † May 19, 1913 ) was an Indian poet, especially the author of historical and social dramas, as well as a composer of some 500 pieces of music, mostly national freedom songs and Bhajans that made it around the turn of the century the idol of the young freedom fighters of Bengal.

Life

Ray was married to Surabala Devi ( † 1903), had a son, Dilip Kumar Roy ( 1897-1980 ), also a successful musician, and a daughter, Maya.
