DY Patil Stadium

The DY Patil Stadium is a cricket stadium in Navi Mumbai, India. The stadium was opened on 4 March 2008 and also serves as a venue for various teams in the Indian Premier League. In the 2011 season, it is the home of the Pune Warriors.

The stadium

The capacity of the stadium is specified with 55,000 seats, which makes it currently the third largest cricket stadium in India after the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and Raipur International Cricket Stadium in Naya Raipur. The ends are called Media End and Pavilion End.

Use in IPL

The stadium was introduced in the first season of the Indian Cricket League in 2008 as one of the home grounds, next to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Mumbai Indians.
