Dzerzhynsk, Ukraine

Dserschynsk (Ukrainian Дзержинськ; Russian Дзержинск / Dzerzhinsk ) is a city of regional importance in eastern Ukraine with 35,595 inhabitants ( 2013). The city is located in the Donets Basin in the Donetsk oblast 50 km north to Oblastzentrum Donetsk. The coal industry As with most cities in the Donbass plays in the economy of the city ( 50.9 % of total industrial production (1 September 2008) ) play a leading role.

History

Municipality

The municipality has a total of 73 537 inhabitants (July 1, 2012).

It is divided into the city Dserschynsk with the settlement Krymske (Ukrainian Кримське ) and the municipal council municipalities:

Population

The Ukrainian language is, according to the 2001 census, 21.29 % of the population used the Russian language by 78.23 %. The population of the city was at that time from 60.5 % Ukrainians, 36.4 % Russians, 1% Belarusians, 0.8 % Tatars, 0.3% Roma, and a further 63 per cent of ethnic groups.

Had the city in 2001, yet 43,371 and the municipality of 87 024 inhabitants, they now only 35,595 or the municipality has 73,537 inhabitants. Thus, the decline in population in Dserschynsk is among the highest in Ukraine. While the birth rate is 6.6 per 1,000 people, the mortality rate is 18.8. Thus, the natural population loss is 12.2. Also, the net migration is negative ( -8.2 per 1,000 ).
