Dźwierzuty

Dźwierzuty ( dawniej Swersutten, German: Mensguth ) is a municipality (Polish: WojewĂłdztwo warmińsko -mazurskie ) in the Warmia - Masuria with its capital Olsztyn ( Olsztyn ). The municipality belongs to the district Szczytno ( Ortelsburg ), powiat Szczycieński and includes several small villages in their vicinity.

History

The town was founded in the 14th century, probably in 1374, although he was only 25 years later, first mentioned in 1399. In other sources, the foundation is dated to an earlier time, because already in 1349 for a pastor to be witnessed. This fact would indicate the existence of a church and a smaller community. 1438, signed Heinrich Reuss von Plauen, Commander of Elbing, a prescription for the good Swersutten. Its name was changed in Menzelsgut the early 15th century. Namesake was doing well the landlords of Swersutten, Mentzel of Wildenau, which gave the place its German name Mensguth village. And today's Polish name Dzwierzuty is derived from the name of the Swersuttener landowner.

1483 replaced the squire his country against a large estate at Morag. It fell from a part of the country of Mensguth for the Order. The village founded on an interest rate and allowed the construction of a mill; therefore the mill in the arms of the municipality. A low point reached the town in the middle of the 17th century, probably stemmed from the devastation during the Tartar invasion. Large areas of cultivated land lay fallow in the sequence and it took almost half a century, until it could be used for agriculture again, particularly in the time of Frederick the Great.

In the 19th century Mensguth developed into a location for industry and trade. Apart from the two mills there was a sawmill, a dairy, a co-operative and at times up to 42 craft shops, and a distillery. For the next generation 1927/1928 resulted in a new, achtklassiges school building whose complex consisted of one building for teachers and students.
