E-Science

Under the slogan e-Science is a scientific paradigm - (in German about advanced science ) the Electronic Science or "enhanced science " - understood.

E-Science aims at a collaborative research that is carried out on the basis of a comprehensive digital infrastructure. This infrastructure integrates all relevant resources for a research area and provides both tools for their processing. In compute-intensive research scenarios they organized the distribution of computing resources. With the development of research they support collaborative processes and provides a platform for the publication of the results - which are thus themselves again to resources for further research.

E-Science has in this sense, in addition to the technological aspect ( virtualization of hardware), above all, a social and political aspect of science ( cooperative research, reusability of data, interoperability of digital tools). Although an extension of e-Science methods is desired in the economy and the public ( society ) into it, this development occurs only slowly. A step-wise approach to this goal over the years is not uncommon in the development of a new infrastructure.

In the e - Science are with government help the moment you the areas of knowledge management ( knowledge networking ), OpenAccess, e -learning and Grid Computing promoted.

The concept of e-science continues in the individual sections. Once there, there is formation of concepts such as e -Geography, e-Humanities, e - Medicine and e-Engineering.

What is discussed mainly in Germany and the United Kingdom, the term e-Science corresponds, in the U.S. about the concept of " cyberinfrastructure ," and in Australia the concept of " e-Research ".
