E-Werk

The E-Werk ( original name: substation Buchhändlerhof ) is a former Grade II listed since 1987 and substation. It was built in 1924-1928 by the architect Hans Heinrich Müller and is located on Wilhelmstrasse 43 ( back of wall street ) in the Berlin district of Mitte. From 1993 to 1997 it was one of the most influential venues in the techno scene.

As the first major exhibition, which was entirely devoted to techno-art, 1994 was held for the first time Chromapark at E-Werk and from 1995 also in addition to the present in the same complex Evidence hall instead.

Companies was the club of Hilke Saul, Andreas Rossmann, Ralf Regitz and Lee Waters.

Permanent resident DJs were DJ Disco, DJ Clé, Jonzon, Woody, Terry Belle and the English Hazel B. The DJ elite of the world played at numerous events.

On Fridays here Dubmission parties were celebrated with their Residents Kid Paul and Paul van Dyk.

On 24 July 1997, the power station closed as a techno club.

In 2005, the completely opened by the Berlin architects HSH architecture redeveloped power station as a venue for various events. In the meantime (as of 2009), there are several companies related offices, such as the PPP Germany AG or Anne Will Media. Likewise, there has MyHammer / Abacho its headquarters.
