E. J. Rowland

Earl Jerrod Rowland ( born May 18, 1983 in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse ) is an American professional basketball player with Bulgarian citizenship.

Career

The 1.91 m wide and 92 -pound point guard began his studies at CSU Dominguez Hills, for their high school team he Toros in the NCAA Division II After a year he returned to Salinas, where he had also gone to high school, and was enrolled at the local Hartnell Community College. In 2003 he moved to the Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California, and played for the Gaels in the Division I of the NCAA. In his senior year, 2005, the Gaels were able after several years of interruption for the first time to qualify for the national finals of the NCAA, but in the one eliminated in the first round.

After study in late 2005 Rowland played a year in the NBA Development League for Florida Flame, whose franchise was however set at the end of the season. For the season 2006/ 07 he moved to Australia joined the Crocodiles in Townsville. For the end of the season he moved to the Barons LMT Riga in Latvia.

For the 2007/2008 season Rowland joined the Artland Dragons in Germany, with whom he could be 2008 German Cup winner. In summer 2008, he signed a contract with the then vice-champion Telekom Baskets Bonn for the 2008/ 2009 season. Thanks to his height and his strong physique to Rowland developed in the 2008/2009 season one of the best point guards of the Basketball Bundesliga and knew both crucial points as to convince by strong defense. Rowland played a key role in ensuring that the Telekom Baskets Bonn were able to reach a play-off final for the fifth time, in which he could improve his individual statistics.

Due to its good performance in Bonn clubs from abroad were aware of Rowland Rowland and so signed for the 2009/2010 season a contract with Soresina in Italy. After two years, Rowland moved to Spain with Unicaja Malaga to. After one season, he spent the 2012/13 season back to Riga in Latvia, where he played for the Master VEF.

However, after a season in Riga, he was not given a new contract and moved to Turkey to Erstligist Banvit BK.

Since its naturalization in August 2009, Rowland citizens of Bulgaria. In the Euro Basket in Poland in 2009, he scored an average of 17.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists, but could not prevent that Bulgaria already was eliminated in the first round.
