E. Lee Spence

Edward Lee Spence ( born 1947 ) is a German - American author, diver, photographer and underwater archaeologist.

Life

Spence studied at the University of South Carolina and the College of Marine Arts. In 1970 he discovered the American submarine wreck CSS Hunley. Even the shipwreck SS Georgiana localized Spence in his dives. As an author he has written several books about his discoveries in underwater archeology. Spence lives in Summerville, South Carolina.
