E. Wedel

E. Wedel is a traditional Polish chocolate manufacturer based in Warsaw.

History

The company was founded in 1851 under the name of Charles E. Wedel Wedel, an immigrant from Germany contractor in Warsaw. The company quickly developed into one of the largest and most popular manufacturers of chocolate in Poland.

The name Wedel in Poland is synonymous with high quality and a long history in the field of chocolate production and is naturally associated with the company's founder and his family.

The fronds family is, however, long been no longer the majority shareholder of the company. Under the communist government, the company was nationalized and renamed " 22 lipca ". 1989 E. Wedel was re- privatized and bought up in 1991 by PepsiCo. Finally, in 1999 the British took over indulgence goods manufacturer Cadbury Schweppes, the company for about U.S. $ 76.5 million from Pepsi. After Kraft Foods Cadbury Schweppes had taken over, Wedel had to be sold by the EU Commission on the basis of requirements. This was done in June 2010 to the Korean-Japanese Lotte Group.

Indicators

Today, E. Wedel is in addition to various chocolate products also produce pastries and salty snacks. Wedel employs approximately 1,100 people and operates a factory in Warsaw. In 1997, the net profit of the company was $ 80 million U.S..
