EAGLE (program)

EAGLE is an EDA program CadSoft for creating printed circuit boards. The name is an acronym formed from Simple Applicable Graphical Layout Editor. Eagle and the company CadSoft were sold to Premier Farnell in September 2009, a supplier of electronic components.

The software consists of several components: Layout Editor, Schematic Editor, autorouter and an extensible component database. It is available for the platforms Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

For non-commercial use a free version (100 mm × 80 mm ) and two signal layers is limited to a schematic sheet, half a map of Europe exists.

The schematic editor can be used using a special component library for programming a MicroSPS.

With Version 6, the manufacturer switched from a proprietary data format for ao Schematics and layouts, to an XML data format.
