Eamon Ryan

Eamon Ryan (Irish Éamon Ó Riain, born July 28, 1963 in Dublin) is an Irish politician and leader of the Green Party. He was from 2002 to 2011 Teachta Dala and served from 2007 to 2011 as Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources.

Life

Eamon Ryan was born in 1963 in Dublin and grew up in the suburbs of Dublin Dundrum and Milltown. He attended Gonzaga College in Ranelagh, studied at University College Dublin. 2002 Ryan was first elected for the Green Party in the Dáil Éireann. In 2007 he was appointed as a result of participation in the government of his party to the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources. This office he held until January 23, 2011, when the Green Party left the government and joined the opposition. The taking place in February of the same year elections to Dáil Éireann 31 he was not re-elected. Since end of May 2011 Ryan is the chairman of the Green Party.

Prior to his political career, Ryan worked as a businessman. He owned the business of Irish Cycling Safaris and Belfield Bike shop.

Ryan is with writer Victoria White (born 1962 ) married. Together they have four children.
