Earl Averill

Howard Earl Averill ( born May 21, 1902 in Snohomish, Washington; † August 16, 1983 in Everett, Washington) was an American baseball player in Major League Baseball. His nicknames were rock and Earl of Snohomish.

Biography

Earl Averill grew up in the U.S. state of Washington, where he played until the year 1926 in various semi- professional baseball leagues. This year, he signed a contract with the team from San Francisco in the Pacific Coast League. Due to his good performances he was obliged in 1929 by the Cleveland Indians. On April 16, 1929 Averill made ​​his debut in the game against the Detroit Tigers, which won the Indians 5-4.
