Earl Canning

Earl Canning is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.

Award

The title Earl Canning in 1859 awarded to the 2nd Viscount Canning, who was at that time Viceroy and Governor-General of India. Previously, in 1828 the title Viscountess Canning to Joan Canning, the Prime Minister George Canning 's widow, has been awarded. With the death of the Earls in 1862 extinguished both titles.
