Earl Doherty

Earl Doherty ( born 1941 ) is a Canadian historian and linguist. He published in 1999 the book The Jesus Puzzle, in which he doubted the historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth.

Life

Doherty earned degrees in Ancient History and Classical Languages ​​. Inspiration for his work on the mythical character of Jesus was George Albert Wells. From his analysis of the New Testament text Doherty concluded that Jesus never existed. It was not until the second generation of followers of Jesus have made him into a historical context.
