Earl Pomeroy

Earl Ralph Pomeroy III ( born September 2, 1952 in Valley City, Barnes County, North Dakota ) is an American politician (Democratic Party). Since 1993 he represents the first electoral district of the state of North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Earl Pomeroy attended until 1974, the University of North Dakota and then 1975 and 1976 the University of Durham in England. Finally, he studied at the Law Faculty of the University of North Dakota law. After his 1979 was admitted to the bar he began to work in his new profession.

Political rise

From 1981 to 1985 Pomeroy MP in the House of Representatives from North Dakota for the North Dakota Democratic - NPL Party, the offshoot of the Democratic Party at the state level; between 1985 and 1992 he was an insurance agent of the government of his state. In the congressional elections of 1992 he was elected for the first electoral district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the following years he was confirmed in each case by an absolute majority in his office. The last two elections he won even with well over 60 % of the vote. His current term of office runs until 3 January 2011. Earl Pomeroy is a member of the Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Ways and Means. Pomeroy was a staunch opponent of the administration of President George W. Bush.

Earl Pomeroy is divorced and has two children. Privately, he lives in Mandan, North Dakota.
