Earle Hyman

Earle Hyman ( born October 11, 1926 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina) is an American actor.

Hyman began his career in 1945 as a 18 -year-old with a small role in Billy Wilder's The Lost Weekend.

He gained worldwide fame through his role as the father of Bill Cosby in Bill Cosby Show. In 1986 he received an Emmy nomination for his performance.

He learned early in his career, Norwegian, to play pieces of revered Henrik Ibsen in the original. He maintains an apartment in Oslo and played in Norwegian films and sitcoms with. In 1990, he brought Ibsen's The Master Builder as an off- Broadway production to the stage and took over on the side of Lynn Redgrave himself the lead role.

He is a third cousin of soul singer Phyllis Hyman.
