The lithospheric plates involved are the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate on the Gulf of California, the Cocos and Nazca plate. It is used to this seafloor spreading, as the Pacific plate moves westward, while the other boards strive to east. While the north is the speed at only 6 inches per year, it reaches very high values in the south of up to 16 cm per year. Southwest of the East Pacific Rise, the Pacific- Antarctic ridge connects. On the southeast side of the East Pacific Rise is the Chile - back, which is the dividing line of the Nazca Plate and the Antarctic Plate.
