East Providence is the fifth largest city in the state of Rhode Iceland, United States. It is located in Providence County and is a suburb of Providence. She belongs with Warwick, Cranston, North Providence and Pawtucket to Providence Metropolitan Area, a metropolitan area with more than 1.5 million people on the Atlantic coast about 40 km south-west of Boston and 200 miles north-east of New York.

Geography

The urban area of ​​East Providence is 43 km ². nearly 20 % of which are water areas, especially that of the Seekonk River. The metropolitan area contains the Villages East Providence Center Watchemoket, Riverside and Rumford. East Providence stretches several kilometers towards the east bank of the Seekonk River and is connected via Interstate 195 ( a relief route of Interstate 95 ) and the Henderson Expressway to Providence on the west side of the river.

Population

The population was recorded in the census of 2010 was 47 037. In 2000, 86.5 % of residents were white, 5% African- American. History

In the mid-17th century, the land of present-day East Providence was acquired in several land purchases from the Indians.
