East Putney tube station

East Putney is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Wandsworth. It lies on the boundary of Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3, on the Upper Richmond Road. In the year 2011 there were 4.93 million passengers these from the District Line station.

North of the station is a railway connection to the South Western Main Line. Using this connection, Trains South West Trains on the way to the depot at Wimbledon. For this reason, the signaling systems between East Putney and Wimbledon Station are not operated by London Underground, but by the rail infrastructure company Network Rail.

On 3 June 1889, the opening of the station by the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR ), the predecessor company of the District Line was. The same day opened railway line was, however, built by the London and South Western Railway (L & SWR ). Therefore, they leased the line to the MDR. The operation of electrical subways began on 27 August 1905. The Southern Railway (SR ), successor to the L & SWR, presented the railway one on 4 May 1941. Until 1 April 1994, the section remained in the possession of the state railway company British Rail and was then transferred to London Underground.

East Putney is on the planned railway Chelsea - Hackney, a connection through the center of London (also known as Crossrail 2 refers ). Should the route be built so south of Parsons Green Crossrail trains would supersede those of the District Line.
