At the time of the census of 2000, there were East San Gabriel 14.512 people. The population density was 3614.9 people per km ². There were 5391 housing units at an average 1342.9 per km ². The population of East San Gabriel consisted of 42.55 % White, 1.85 % African American, 0.63 % Native American, 40.47% Asian, 0.09 % Pacific Islander, 10.12% stated that they other races, and 4.28 % from two or more races. 23.52 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
