East Semitic languages
The ostsemitischen languages form one of two main branches of the Semitic languages in addition to the West Semitic languages. It consists of two extinct languages : the Akkadian and Eblaitischen (which is sometimes seen as a dialect of Akkadian ).
Akkadian and the Eblaitische have against the other Semitic languages, two common innovations, which justify them together into a ostsemitischen branch: they form the nominative plural of adjectives on -UT (eg Akkadian dannum "strong", plural dannūtum ) and developed with the pronominal suffixes special dative forms.
