Easter Parade (film)

Easter Parade is an American movie musical with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire from the year 1948.

Action

The film takes place from Easter 1912 to Easter 1913 in New York. The famous dancer Don Hewes has a big problem. His partner, Nadine Hale would like to start a solo career as a dancer and leaves him. With his friend Jonathan Harrow he goes to a small pub. You drown problem in this pub Dons. At a late hour claims Don that he could form a second Nadine Hale from any X any dancer. Background

Easter Parade is one of the most successful MGM musicals of the 1940s. The film was to be another spectacle for Gene Kelly and Judy Garland after the success of The Pirate originally. Just before shooting begins, however, Kelly broke the basketball game the foot, and so the studio decided that Fred Astaire, who had actually declared shortly before his retirement from film, should stand in for Kelly. There were other changes. Originally Vincente Minnelli should direct. Since the studio Minelli problematic appeared difficult marriage with garland for the filming, Charles Walters took over the government instead. For the role of Nadine Hale Cyd Charisse had been provided. However, due to a torn ligament, they had to be replaced by Ann Miller. Ann Miller, which was sponsored by Louis B. Mayer (who had stopped unsuccessfully for her hand ), but the shooting had to endure with an orthopedic corset because her husband had just pushed down a flight of stairs.

The film was a huge success, thanks to his wit, and above all the great revue scenes despite all recruitment problems.
