Eastern Development Region, Nepal
The development Eastern Region ( Nepali: पुर्वाञ्चल विकास क्षेत्र Purbanchal Bikas Kshetra / development region of the eastern zones ) (English: Eastern Development Region) is the easternmost of the five development regions in Nepal. It has an area of 28,456 km ² and consists of the zones Mechi, Koshi and Sagarmatha, which are each divided into districts. In the 2011 census, the region had 5,811,555 inhabitants. Council is based in Dhankuta.
