The Eastern Michigan University is a public university in Ypsilanti in the U.S. state of Michigan. Currently, 22 827 students are enrolled.

History

The Eastern Michigan University was founded in 1849 as the State Normal School. She was the first Normal School west of the Allegheny Mountains. In 1899 she was renamed Michigan State Normal College and in 1956 in Eastern Michigan College. It received its current name in 1959. In Germany, the Eastern Michigan University with the Justus- Liebig- University of Giessen is twinned with which it, inter alia, an exchange program operates. In addition, the Giessen German scholar Sascha Feuchert is working as an adjunct professor at EMU.
