Eastman Wind Ensemble

The Eastman Wind Ensemble is a symphonic band in the United States of America. It was founded in 1952 by Frederick Fennell at the Eastman School of Music. Frederick Fennell founded the modern symphonic orchestra with this brass band, in which every orchestral part is played by a musician and prefers the original compositions for orchestra form transcriptions of orchestral works. The Eastman Wind Ensemble has premiered more than 150 compositions, including works by Bernard Rands and Joseph Schwantner.

In 1987 the ensemble was nominated for a Grammy Award for the best performance of an Instrumental Solos (with or without orchestra ) in their album Carnival of 1986, which was created in collaboration with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
