Eaton County, Michigan
Eaton County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Charlotte.
Geography
The County is located in the middle south of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has an area of 1500 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clinton County, Ingham County, Jackson County, Calhoun County, Barry County and Ionia County.
History
Eaton County was formed in 1829 as an original county of free territory. It was named after John Henry Eaton, a U.S. Secretary of War. The county is one of the so-called Cabinet counties since it was like some other named after a member of the cabinet of U.S. President Andrew Jackson.

According to the census of 2000, there were 103,655 people in Eaton County. Of these, 1,734 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants living in 40 167 households, and 28,237 families. The population density was 69 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 90.25 percent White, 5.29 percent African American, 0.44 percent Native American, 1.13 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 1.17 percent from other races groups; 1.70 percent were descended from two or more races. 3.21 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 40 167 households out of which 33.8 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 56.3 percent were married couples living together, 10.3 percent were single mothers and 29.7 percent were non-families. 24.5 percent of all households and 8.4 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.03.
26.1 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 9.1 percent 18 to 24 years 28.8 percent between 25 and 44, 24.6 percent between 45 and 64 years, and 11.3 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.5 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 49,588, and the median income for a family $ 57,898. Males had a median income of $ 41,978, women $ 29,638. The per capita income was $ 22,411. 4.1 percent of families and 5.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
