History

Eaton was founded in 1806 by William Bruce. It was named after General William Eaton, U.S. forces led by Egypt to Tunis. In addition to the city and the county in which it is located, and local streets were named in honor of heroes barbarian wars. The village grew rapidly after its founding. 1846 the village had approximately one thousand inhabitants. This growth derived primarily from Eaton's central location on two major motorways ( turnpikes ) ago what it had become an important transportation hub.
