Ebbinghof is a district of the town of Schmallenberg in North Rhine -Westphalia.

Location

The village is located approximately two kilometers north of Schmallenberg and 2.5 km east of mountain living.

History

The Einhof Ebbinghof was first mentioned in 1284. Volkmar von Ebinchoven was then witnessed a Grafschafter certificate. The lehnshörige to Fredeburg estate belonged to the archbishops of Cologne, who let her live Vogt it. The Climate Protection Award of the City Schmallenberg and RWE went in 2009 to Ebbinghof. The place for several years uses wind energy, solar energy (photovoltaic ) and thermal energy ( wood chips ) and, more recently, a biogas plant. Currently, the village produces more electricity than it consumes.

Religion

The first chapel on the site was the hl. Anthony the Hermit and St.. Luzia dedicated and dates from 1610. It was built by the owners of Vogt 's good. After a change of ownership in 1888 began two years later, a dispute between the new owner and the other villagers to the right of use of the chapel before the district court Fredeburg. The conflict ended on 28 March 1894., The District Court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs. 1913 there was a renewed change of ownership. To avoid further difficulties, the villagers were planning then a new chapel elsewhere. After collection, the new chapel was built on the previously acquired place on 9 December 1915. It is since then in the village center and is dedicated to St. Lawrence. The new chapel was unchanged modeled on the old chapel but also received a small entrance porch. The ornate altar was made based on a design of the Aachen cathedral architect Josef Buchkremer.

Tourism
