Eben im Pongau a municipality with 2250 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Salzburg region is in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in Austria.

Geography

The municipality is located on the 860 m above sea level. A. on the northwestern edge of the basin in Radstädter Ennspongau. To the south, the valley of the upper Enns, against Altenmarkt im Pongau, Flachau opens out to the north extends the valley of Fritz Bach, to the west against the Pongauer basin, to the east towards Filzmoos. This plane forms the Talwasserscheide between the Salzach and Enns. The place is located in the mountains of the Salzburg Taler Fritz Schieferalpen, with the Hochgründeck Group (1827 m above sea level. A. ) in the west and the Roßbrand (1770 m above sea level. A. ) to the east. The village belonged until 2004 to the judicial district of Radstadt and since 1 January 2005, part of the judicial district of St. Johann im Pongau.

The municipality comprises the areas south and north of the Fritztals, the place Eben im Pongau itself is located in the south of the church, down to the Old Market and Flachau. Towns and local villages are Eben im Pongau, Pension Berg ( Cadastral inn ) and Schattbach, and there are the scattered settlement Höllberg that the village level iP heard, and numerous individual plies.

History

Eben im Pongau taxes was called until 1912. The municipality comprises the former municipalities Eben, Gasthofberg and Schattbach which were united in 1939 to the municipality of Eben im Pongau.

In a split of silver and red shield a farbverwechselter wave rafters, accompanied by a farbverwechselten facet diamond top right and left. The coat of arms symbolizes the watershed in which Eben im Pongau is located. On the one hand, this consists of the Fritz Bach, on the other hand, from the Enns.

Traffic

The Enns Valley Railway ( Bischofshofen - Selzthal ), the A 10 Tauern motorway ( E / E 60, 55 with driveways towards Salzburg and Villach / Carinthia ) and the B99 Katschberg road (E 651, Bischofshofen - Spittal an der Drau / Carinthia ) pass through the municipal area. This route was formed in the 1970s and 1980s, the infamous guest worker route as one of the major arterial routes in Europe, where the pass is precisely one of bottlenecks, but has lost since the opening of Phyrn motorway, and even more the case of the Iron Curtain in importance.
