Ebenau is a municipality with 1369 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Salzburg region in the district of Salzburg in Austria.

Geography

The municipality is located in Flachgau in Salzburg between Salzburg and Lake Wolfgang. The municipality is part of the Judicial District Thalgau.

Religion

Originally part of the Catholic parish Thalgau, was Ebenau own vicariate in 1703 and 1857 independent parish.

Culture and sights

  • Ebenauer Mühlenwanderweg: 6 km loop trail, where there are seven restored water mill dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. The trail begins in Ebenau at the Waschlmühle, leads to the Pertill mill over a ridge with the Watzmannblick near Koppl the so-called roach in the gorge of Bach's Rescue. Located on the upper edge of the 25 m high waterfall Schroffenau the - mill, while the Eder, Pertiller, Schindlau and Hofbauer mill located further downstream. Display boards along the way explain historical, geological and biological relationships.
  • Suddenly, the gorge of Bach's Rescue with three waterfalls, local area Ebenau ( natural monument ), direction Hinterschroffenau
  • Museum in Fürstenstöckl: The Heritage Museum of Ebenau is located in the former armory of the princes and archbishops of Salzburg. The historical significance of the place as a center of iron, copper and brass processing is supported by appropriate metal hammer and forging tools. In addition, firearms are issued from the 17th century, which were made in the community Ebenau of the family Velcro.
  • Messingweg: 1,2 km loop trail with information panels on the geology and cultural history of Ebenau, which passes within the gorge of Schwarzaubaches also at the museum in Fürstenstöckl and 53 m long, walk water tunnel of the former brass factory.
