Ebergar

Everger († June 11 999 in Cologne) was 985-999 Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cologne.

About the origin and date of birth of Archbishop Everger nothing is known. He had, before he became archbishop of Cologne, however, already taken actions in the context of the Cologne cathedral chapter.

986 replied the Archbishop said to the monks of the Abbey Gladbach in the Abbey Great St. Martin in Cologne, where he forced the few living there clerics store or leave profession. The possessions of the Abbey Gladbach, he divided among his knights. Finally, he moved the monks but returned to their former Abbey back, but without reimbursing them their goods. In St. Cunibert you later claimed that the Archbishop had " plundered " the pen. Both accusations are from a later time, but where did the anger against the Archbishop?

988 gave Archbishop Everger the manor Roden churches, the great part of today's Cologne district Roden churches involved, the Cologne Abbey Great St. Martin. The same abbey received the 989 Fronhof in Esch including lands. In 991 Archbishop Everger led the funeral of the Empress Theophano in St. Pantaleon.

After his death on June 11, 999 Everger was buried in Cologne Cathedral.
