Eberhard Schenk

Eberhard Schenk ( born July 17, 1929 in Pila, † July 23, 2010 in Bergen auf Rügen) was a German track and field athlete from the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which belonged in the 1950s to the best hurdlers of the GDR and two championship titles won.

Schenk took the fourth place in 1951 and 1952, third place in the East German Championships in the 110 meter hurdles. Behind Karl Scholz 1952 he was vice- champion in the 200 meter hurdles. 1953 and 1954 ran Schenk in the GDR championships behind each Gerhard Schmolinski to second place over 110 meters hurdles. His first league title won Schenk 1954 200 - meter hurdles. In 1955 he won then about 110 meter hurdles.

Schenk first came on for unit Rostock, later for the SC Empor Rostock. After his career he received his doctorate and then worked as a general practitioner in Bergen auf Rügen. His 1965 born son Christian Schenk won the 1988 Seoul Olympic decathlon.
