Eberhard Vogel 1974

Eberhard Vogel ( born April 8, 1943 in Altenhain in Frankenberg / Sa. Near Chemnitz ) was soccer player in the DDR - Oberliga for the SC / FC Karl- Marx-Stadt and FC Carl Zeiss Jena. He completed 74 games with the national football team of the GDR.

Football career

Club player

Bird grew up in the small town of Niederwiesa to near the present Chemnitz. First, he played in the Niederwiesaer school team, but then joined the SG Niederwiesa to. From there he was in 1959 as a junior player for third division side SC Motor Karl- Marx-Stadt, the later FC Karl- Marx-Stadt, delegated. After he had also completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith, denied the 1,79 m tall striker in the 1961/62 season his first games in the men's team, who played in the now second-rate DDR League, and with it the end of the season in the GDR Serie A climb. His last league season played bird as a 39 -year-old 1981/82 and again came in 14-point games for use. For the last time he was on 30 May 1982, as the 26th match day, in the encounter FC Carl Zeiss - HFC Chemistry ( 1:2 ) for 75 minutes on its common position Left Winger in the league team.

With 440 inserts Eberhard Vogel is the player with most DDR - Oberliga games. In all, he scored 188 goals, 70 goals in 198 appearances for FC Karl- Marx-Stadt, 118 goals in 242 appearances for FC Carl Zeiss Jena. In the list of most goals in the GDR Oberliga it holds second place after Joachim Streich with 229 hits. 1969 bird was chosen as FCK player Footballer of the Year.

National players

Between 1962 and 1963, denied bird seven matches with the East German junior national team. He was also used in 1963 in two international matches of the B- team. His first game in the senior team, he completed 19 years as a left winger, on 16 December 1962 in Conakry against Guinea (3:2). Since this position, however, was occupied by the veteran Roland Ducke, bird came just 14 months later to an international match. From 1966 he had finally prevailed as Left Wing of the national team. With the Olympic team, played for the official 1964-1976 23 international matches, he won at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 and 1972 in the Federal Republic bronze medals. Legendary his goal was the decider of the Olympic qualifiers on 28 June 1964 in Warsaw in a 4-1 victory against the Soviet Union, when he completed a pass to the left corner from the left directly verwandelte.Bei the 1974 World Cup in 81 minutes he three games, but missed because of injury when memorable 1-0 victory over the DFB. Coach

Eberhard Vogel acquired the sports teacher diploma during his time as an active football player and was therefore qualified as a football coach. After ending his footballing career of DDR Football Association Vogel took over as youth coach. In this role, bird could achieve his greatest success as a coach. With the East German Junior 1986 he was European champion with the U-20 national team, he won the World Cup third parties and the U-16 selection was among bird 1989 Vice European Champion. From 1989 to 1990 bird was in the senior national team under Eduard Geyer assistant coach.

After the dissolution of the East German football federation bird was a club coach. After working as an amateur coach at Borussia Mönchengladbach (1990/ 91) and the first FC Cologne (1991 /92), he took over on 1 July 1992 as coach at second division Hannover 96, who had achieved during the past season in fifth place in the North Season. Among bird leadership, 96 moved only slightly during the 1992/93 season above the relegation places and ended up in ninth place. When the team had fallen on matchday 15 of the following season on the 13th place in the table, Bird was released on 6 November 1993.

Bird then returned to his old club FC Carl Zeiss Jena, who played now in the then third-tier Regionalliga. He took over the team on matchday 5 of the 1994/95 season and led them to the end of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. There reached his team as a freshman the 6th Place. As Jena fell into acute danger of relegation in the spring of 1997, Bird was released again in May 1997 with five games before the season end.

This was followed by a one-year stint as coach of the fifth-tier VfB Pössneck (1996 /97). Then bird took the only work abroad his coaching career as coach of Togo. Here he remained from 1997 to 1998 for one year only to then also be valid for one year until 2003, the unterklassigen Teams FSV Hoyerswerda (Oberliga ), of the 1st FC Magdeburg (Oberliga ) and the Dresdner SC (Regional ) to train. His last coaching position was the VfB Sangerhausen, where he worked during the seasons 2004/ 05 and 2006/ 06 in the fifth division of Saxony -Anhalt ( 5 league).

Since February 2010 Bird reinforces the scouting area for FC Carl Zeiss Jena, where he will take over tasks in the player observation and Talentesichtung.

Private

Eberhard Vogel is married to the GDR champion of 1968 on 100 meters Angela Höhme. They have two sons, Tino and André. Son Tino bird was, among other coach at Chemnitz FC and RB Leipzig. Even with 60 years Eberhard Vogel went with the tradition of Self FC Carl Zeiss Jena hunting for goals. He was honored by FC Carl Zeiss Jena with the Golden Badge of Honour in 1996.
