Geographical Location

Eberholzen is located southwest of Hildesheim between the natural parks Weser Uplands and resin. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Sibbesse, which has its headquarters in the town of Sibbesse.

History

The village was first mentioned in documents as Eilbereholthusen in 1240, with Eilbere may be a proper name. The chapel in the neighboring village Möllensen was in 1304 named as " Branch " of the Church in Eberholzen. At the beginning of the 20th century the number of Eberholzen 682 inhabitants.

Origin of the name

Old names of the place are 1240 Eilbereholthusen 1282 Elber Holthusen, 1282 Ebbereholthusen, 1285 Elber Holthusen, 1304 Elber Holthusen, 1311, and 1318 Eylberholthusen Elber Holthusen. The name seems to consist of three parts: In addition to the frequent element " holt- husen " is in the first term " King James ", perhaps even to recognize " Eilber -e- ". Transport and Infrastructure

Eberholzen is connected via county roads with the B243 to the road network. Regular direct bus connections are made to and from Gronau, Hildesheim and Alfeld. Attractions

Prior to the Protestant Church of St Bartholomew, the tower was built in the 12th century, a stone coffin from the 13th century can be seen.
