Eberschwang

Eberschwang is a market town in Upper Austria in the district of Ried in the Innviertel with 3381 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Ried.

Geography

Eberschwang is located on 529 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 7.9 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 7.4 km. The total area is 40.4 km ². 29.2 % of the area is forested, 61.6 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The river rises in the municipality of Antiesen Eberschwang.

History

The place Eberschwang was first mentioned in 903 as Heurtteswanc documentary, a clearing name on -wang, the first part of word is unclear.

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ) to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, part of the place since 1814 finally returned to Austria above the Enns ( Upper Austria ).

After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich in 1938 on the place belonged to the Upper Danube. After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In gold, three on green mountain, a black, red bezungter, border boar. The municipality colors are green and yellow.

Designed by Charles Adelmann Eder coat of arms was awarded the municipality on 26 February 1979 by the Upper Austrian government. The boar takes - etymologically incorrect - on the community name with respect.

The green symbolizes the three mountain foothills of the house jerk on the eastern border of the community with Schlossberg, Turmberg and Sulzberg ( from north to south ).

Culture and sights

  • Parish: The parish church, dedicated to St. Michael dates back in its origins to the 11th century and was completed in 1410 in the Gothic style and remodeled. In addition to the parish church was still a pilgrimage church, but this was closed in the wake of the Church reform of Joseph II in 1784 and worn from 1801 to 1804.

Traffic

Eberschwang is located on the B143 ( Hausruckstraße ) between Vöcklabrucker Ried. The house jerk train ( Puchheim - warping thing ) has two railway stations in the municipality, house jerk and Eberschwang.

Policy

  • Mayor Joseph is Bleckenwegner of the SPÖ. The two vice- mayors are Martin Bögl of the SPÖ and the ÖVP of Doris Kalchgruber.
  • The Eberschwanger council (2009) consists of 25 members, of which the SPÖ send 11 representatives who ÖVP 7, the FPÖ 4, the Greens 2 and the AAF gets 1 mandate. In Eberschwanger parish council, the SPÖ 4, the ÖVP and the FPÖ 2 send 1 members.
