The site of the present town but is likely to have been settled on the basis of excavations already in the early Christian period. We should also see earlier near Ebreichsdorf a large Roman or occupied by the Romans Celtic ( Boian ) settlement existed. Later, under the Babenbergs was the settlement in the time for this so-called Anger villages. Already in 1120 was the former castle in Schranawand (formerly Schranabatten ), a small farming settlement, mentioned. From this castle you see nothing more. Only the church, which has also been built under Babenberg rule still stands.

Unterwaltersdorf was already mentioned in 1304 as a market. The Ebreichsdorf castle might have been a fortress (fortress) against the always urgent in Hungary. Accurate records of the origin of the castle but there is no. In 1333 Ebreichsdorf that was previously owned by the Abbey of Melk went into the possession of Ulrich and Berthold of Pergau over, which at that time belonged to the castle. Since then, the owner of the castle changed very often. It was also briefly in Hungarian hands. Even when the first Turkish siege it was, like all places, strongly affected. 1568 bought by Jerome Beck the castle and rebuilt it completely around to a large park.

In the period after Ebreichsdorf took by his loyalty to the emperor an upswing. In the second Turkish siege they remained relatively unscathed by a letter of protection with a good vow.

In the second half of the 18th century, strong economic incentives set by the former owner of the castle. The result was a large cotton and sheep's wool factory, one of the largest in the former Lower Austria. The main part of the building still stands on the main square today. A large mill was built. This industrialization was continued in the second half of the 19th century through the use of the water power of the Piesting, Cold Ganges and the Fischa.

Ebreichsdorf came in the 1990s in the headlines, as the Austro - Canadian Frank Stronach there wanted to realize the so-called globe project.
