Ecaterina Andronescu

Ecaterina Andronescu ( born April 7, 1948 in Malovăţ, Circle Mehedinţi ) is a Romanian politician and member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD, Social Democrat Partidul ) of Romania.

Since 1996 is member of the PSD Andronescu from 1996 to 2008, she had a seat in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies and member of the Senate since 2008. She was Minister of Education in the Cabinet of Romania Năstase from 2000 to June 2003 in the Cabinet Boc 2008-2009 and in the Cabinet Ponta in 2012.

Andronescu is married and has one child.

Biography

Andronescu was born in Malovăţ, Circle Mehedinţi and made 1972 an engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in chemistry. In 1982, she obtained a doctorate in the same field. From 1992 to 2004 she was Dean of the Faculty, 2004, she was Rector of the University and remained there until 2012.

Accusations of plagiarism

After Andronescu a third time Education Minister of Romania, President Traian Basescu urged against the background of several plagiarism scandals at that time, of which even their immediate predecessor Ioan Mang was concerned, a statement that her thesis is free from plagiarism. Andronescu then declared that she had never plagiarized.
