ECB 40

The Yorkshire Bank 40 is a one-day cricket competition of the English first-class counties, which was played for the first time in the 2010 season and ran through 2012 Clydesdale Bank 40 under the name.

History

In view of the increasingly popular Twenty20 Crickets, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB ) was forced in 2009 to restructure the classic one- day cricket and to replace the two previous competitions, the Pro40 and Friends Provident Trophy. Thus, since 1968, first there is again only one List A competition in England. The new sponsor Clydesdale Bank, who had previously sponsored the Twenty20 Cup, has been committed by the ECB for three years. In addition to the 18 first-class counties still take Scotland, the Netherlands and an English amateur team under the name Unicorns in the tournament. Ireland, too, had been invited by the ECB, but declared his resignation as the Irish Association wanted to concentrate on his international duties, what the Dutch team facilitated the participation.

Tournament format

All games will be played in the 40 -over format. The teams are divided into three groups of 7 teams, the three group winners and the best runner-up qualify for the semifinals.
