Main source of income for local residents is still agriculture ( corn, wine and a bit of animal husbandry and pasture management ). The viticulture was greatly taken back in the second half of the 19th century because of the infestation of vines by phylloxera. Nevertheless, the place is one of the Fins Bois Cognac wine region. Tourism also, that is primarily the rental of apartments ( gîtes ), plays a certain role in the economic life of the community.

History

On the history of Échebrune no information is available. The exceptionally well-preserved and impressive village church - due to a second portal on the south side formerly a high probability of a priory - shows, however, that the place in the middle ages was not entirely insignificant.
