Geographical Location

Echem lies to the west of the nature reserve bank of the Elbe - Drawehn. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Scharnebeck, which has its headquarters in the town of Scharnebeck.

History

Origin of the name

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

  • Echem lies south of the national road 209 Lüneburg- Lauenburg which is accessible in four kilometers.
  • The municipality has a break point on the railway line Lübeck- Lüneburg. The regional center of Lüneburg is reached in nine minutes.

Education

  • Teaching and Research Institute of Animal Husbandry (FVO ) of the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Saxony. Here young people and adults learn to deal with farm animals. The facility specializes in training and development in cattle farming, but does work with various partners also courses and seminars to many other agricultural topics.
