Echinocereus stramineus is a flowering plant in the genus Echinocereus from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet comes from the Latin stramineus means straw yellow ' and refers to the spines of the type common names are " Agosteña ", " Porcupine Hedgehog Cactus ", " Sanjuanera ", " Spiny Strawberry Hedgehog" and "Strawberry Cactus".

Description

Echinocereus stramineus vieltriebig grows and forms large cushions with up to 500 drives and diameters of about 1 meter. The cylindrical to its tip gradually tapering shoots are up to 45 centimeters long and have diameters of up to 8 centimeters. They are usually hidden by the spines. The first description as Cereus stramineus by George Engelmann was published in 1856. Francisco Seitz introduced the type 1870 in the genus Echinocereus. A synonym is nomenklatorisches Echinocereus enneacanthus var stramineus ( Engelm. ) LDBenson (1969).
