History

Prehistory

Numerous archaeological finds can be BC proof of continuous occupation of the area Echzeller since about 5000.

At the northwest edge of the modern village was located about 90 AD - 260 AD a large Roman fort of 1,000 soldiers as part of the Wetterau Limes (→ fort Echzell ). The church stands on the remains of the Roman baths; some foundation walls are marked in the pavement in front of it. Next to the church is the replica of a Roman Jupiter column, which was found south of the town a few years ago.

Middle Ages

The oldest written mention of Echzell is found in a document dated 28 July 782 as Ahizuuila.

The place was in the former Fuldischen marrow, which then became the county Nidda, which merged in the county Ziegenhain beginning of the 13th century.

Incorporations

On 31 December 1970, the until then independent municipality basic Schwalheim was incorporated. On 1 July 1971, added Gettenau. Bite followed on 1 October 1971. Integration of Bingen home rounded on 1 August 1972, the number of incorporations from.

Echzell is located on the country's roads L3188 ( Rodheim ( Hungen ) - Family Home ( Florstadt ) ) and L3412 (connection to B 455 ). The county road K181 leads to the B 455 near the motorway exit 37 ( Woelfersheim ) of the federal motorway 45

On the Horlofftalbahn trains run hourly from Nidda about Echzell, Reichel home and Beienheim to Friedberg. In the rush hour run on the track through trains to and from Frankfurt ( Main ) Hauptbahnhof.

Public transport, the transport company Oberhessen GmbH safely within the Rhine -Main Transport Association.

The German Limes bicycle path runs through the town. This follows the Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes 818 km from Bad Hönningen am Rhein to Regensburg on the Danube.

Train

  • The boarding school Lucius can accommodate about 150 students.
  • The Kurt Moosdorf School is a pure primary school. By 2007 there was still a secondary school branch and by 2005 a feed stage.
  • In the district of Bingen home is the community Bingen Home, a facility for the disabled with residence, sheltered workshops and Waldorf - needs school.
