Eckartsberga

Eckartsberga is a small town in Burgenland district, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). It belongs to the municipality on at the Finn.

Geography

The city is located on the Eckartsberga Finn, a ridge on the border of Saxony- Anhalt / Thuringia. Located in the natural park Saale Unstrut Triasland, the city about 22 kilometers from Naumburg ( Saale) and the nearly 30 km from Jena and Weimar is removed.

The neighboring municipalities (clockwise ) are: At the Post Road, Lanitz - Hassel- valley in Saxony- Anhalt and Thuringia Bad Sulza.

History

The story Eckart Berga is inextricably linked with the creation and construction of the Eckartsburg 966 by Margrave Ekkehard I of Meissen. Eckartsberga had in the late Middle Ages Market Law, City Law (since 1288), was Münzprägeort and had its own jurisdiction. From 1485 the city was the seat of the homonymous Saxon Office.
