Eco-Runner Team Delft

The Eco - Runner Team Delft was the first Dutch team that participated in the Shell Eco- marathon. The group of students from the Technical University of Delft took effect in July 2006 at the British Rockingham against international competition at.

Team

The team was founded in November 2005 by a group of tech-savvy students. During the first year the team consisted of 11 members. 7 of which came from Belgium and the remaining 4 were from the Netherlands. The team had set itself the goal to successfully participate in the Shell Eco- marathon.

After various discounts and new additions to the team number increased to a total of 16 members who respectively came from different grades.

Eco - Runner 1

2006 The team established the Eco - Runner 1, a vehicle which was created in a short time and with few tools. Nevertheless, the team succeeded with this vehicle for a distance of over 500 km, despite a defective injection pump to consume only 1 liter of fuel. Due to this success, the team decided to develop a new vehicle, which should consume even less fuel.

Eco - Runner H2

The newly developed Eco - Runner H2 is characterized by its strong squat and streamlined shape. In addition, the team ertüftelte a two-way drive system. The first system based on a fuel cell, which drives an electric motor. The second system is a six - stroke internal combustion engine similar to a 4- stroke engine works, only injected after the 4th cycle of water in the combustion chamber and expands abruptly. The disadvantage of this actuator is that the combination of high pressure and temperature, and water heavily promotes the corrosion of the engine.
