The Company

The Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI ) is an African bank, which focuses on corporate and private customers. Besides the typical for this business payment services, the deposit and lending business as well as ATMs and online banking, the bank offers the less common today in Europe exchange business. One also not common in Europe of activity of the bank microfinance, which have been used for the award of the Nobel Prize to Muhammad Yunus as a means to fight poverty worldwide. The Bank cooperates with the U.S. ACCION International.

The shares of Ecobank is listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange Ghana Stock Exchange. By market value, it is one of the largest companies in Africa and is therefore also in 2008 the newly created S & P Africa 40 Index.

History

In 1984, the establishing of a bank launched Ecopromotions SA tasked with attracting investors. 1985 was founded with a share capital of more than USD 100 million and a contribution of $ 32 million then, among others, capital of the Fund for Cooperation, Compensation and Development of the West African Economic Community ECOWAS as the largest shareholder, the EIT.
