The École des arts Industrial and Mines was the name of the Engineering School of Lille in northern France from 1854 to 1872.

The city of Lille had set up three chairs of physics, chemistry and mechanics in the years 1817, 1822 and 1826. The School of Engineering, which was founded by Frédéric Kuhlmann in 1854, was the successor of the chairs, to meet the needs of the northern French industry.

The focus of the training of the first two years of study and the optional third year were the construction of machines, spinning and weaving, chemical and metallurgy and mining.

1872, the School of Engineering has been elevated to the status of an Institute of Technology ( Institut industriel du Nord ). His legacy is now the École Centrale de Lille.
