Econcern

Econcern was a global group of companies, under whose umbrella the subsidiaries Ecofys, evelop, Ecostream, Ecoventures and OneCarbon were summarized. The Group's business were renewable energies. They evolved from the founded in Utrecht in 1984 consulting firm Ecofys.

Econcern employed around 1,300 people worldwide in 21 countries (as of January 2009) and was ranked 234 in the European best list " Europe's 500" of the fastest growing and job-creating businesses. The international headquarters was located in the Dutch city of Utrecht; their activities in Germany headed the group from Cologne. For 2006, Econcern produced revenues of 240 million euros for 2007, approximately 500 million euros.

Econcern pursued the goal to realize a sustainable energy supply for everyone.

With date May 26, 2009 the Econcern N.V. in the Netherlands insolvency ( surseance van betaling ) account. The Dutch energy company Eneco bought the Ecofys consultancy company in the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom from the bankruptcy estate, so that they could continue their business operations.
