Ecopetrol is a Colombian company with headquarters in Bogotá.

Ecopetrol has worked in the oil industry. After sales Ecopetrol is the largest company in Colombia. The company is majority owned by the Colombian government.

1921, the company was founded under the name Tropical Oil Company. In 1951, the company Ecopetrol SA renamed. 2006 was adopted in the Colombian parliament a controversial law that shares in the company can be purchased privately.
