Ecser

Ecser ( IPA: [ ɛʧɛr ], Slovak ECER ) is a town in Pest county in Hungary.

Location

Ecser located southeast of Budapest near the airport, Ferihegy International. The neighboring municipalities are Maglód, Vecsés, Gyömrő and Üllő. The village lies on the railway line 120a and near the M0 motorway.

The population of Ecser belongs to the Slovak minority.

History

The first mention took place on 15 December 1315. However, the village already existed in 896, when the tribe of Hungary in present-day Hungary arrived. The name comes from the legend according to Hungarian cser (oak), the Prince Árpád suggested after you could give to his question, as this place hot, no answer. During the Ottoman rule (1526-1686) the population died from what was mainly triggered by the occupation of Budapest. It was only in 1699 returned the population.

Eleven soldiers from Ecser fought from 1703 to 1711 under Rákóczi for independence.

At the beginning of the 17th century the village owner Antal Grassalkovich Slovaks settled in Ecser.
